See Ms. Ally Jones or Mr. Gruhn for detailed questions and scenarios.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">A <strong><em>general<\/em><\/strong> idea of what you should do &amp; when you should do it during your senior year. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong><u>August\/September\/October<\/u><\/strong>:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Double-check your schedule and transcript and make sure you are on track to graduate.\u00a0 Your counselor, advisor, or the graduation coach can help you make sure.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">If you have not taken either\u00a0the ACT\u00ae or SAT\u00ae tests (depending on your college choices\u2019 admission requirements)\u2014make arrangements to do so in the early Fall.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Meet with your counselor to finalize your list of colleges to five or six.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Review your application essay with English teachers and your counselor. Make sure there are no spelling errors.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Continue to meet with any visiting college representatives that visit your school. Think about questions you may have about their programs\u2014and don\u2019t be afraid to ask!<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Check your high school transcript to make sure everything is accurate.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Most colleges have early admission application deadlines before the end of the year (e.g. October 15<sup>th<\/sup>, November 1<sup>st<\/sup>, December 1<sup>st<\/sup>).\u00a0 Mark your calendar with deadlines (application, scholarship, and financial aid), transcript requests, interview appointments, scheduled visits by colleges to your school. Remember that your school might need 7-10 school days to process any transcript requests, so give them enough time to meet any college deadlines.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong><u>November<\/u><\/strong>:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Complete college applications and essays during Thanksgiving break. Have someone else PROOFREAD everything BEFORE mailing it. Make sure you use your full name and Social Security number on all correspondence with colleges to avoid misfiling.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Photocopy everything you send to colleges (application, essays, and checks) and keep in your college file.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Continue to meet with any visiting college representatives that visit your school. Think about questions you may have about their programs\u2014and don\u2019t be afraid to ask!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong><u>Holiday Break<\/u><\/strong>:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Look at Gafutures.org for FAFSA information. Your parents will have to estimate their earnings for the year to complete financial aid forms.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Check for other scholarship\u00a0opportunities. \u00a0The Holiday break is an\u00a0excellent\u00a0time to fill out\u00a0applications. (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fastweb.com\">fastweb.com<\/a>)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong><u>January<\/u><\/strong>:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">FAFSA financial aid forms should be sent as soon as possible after January 1. Tax information needs to be completed by parents, prior to completing. (FAFSA can now be completed starting in October using last year tax information.)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong><u>February<\/u><\/strong>:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Notify colleges of honors or awards you have received since the time of your application.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Notify counselors as you receive responses from colleges. Bring in all scholarship offers so a copy can be placed in your file for Honors Night.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Seek and apply for private scholarships. (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fastweb.com\">fastweb.com<\/a>)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong><u>March<\/u><\/strong>:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Keep a close watch on all your grades.\u00a0 College acceptance is conditional on you\u00a0<em>finishing strong <\/em>in your high school courses.\u00a0 Make sure not to slack off at the end.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong><u>April<\/u><\/strong>:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Are you planning to have a summer job? \u00a0If so, it is time to start searching and applying. \u00a0Do you need to write a resume? \u00a0There are online\u00a0resources\u00a0to help.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">You should receive notifications of admission and financial aid awards from all colleges by April 15.
